A Montana Cherry Orchard
Celebrating 100 years!
1920-2020

For five generations, the Bowman name has been synonymous with cherries on Flathead Lake’s east shore.
Over the decades, the family business has grown from a single acre of trees to the two-state operation it is today. As Bowman Orchards celebrates 100 years of operation in 2020, the family looks back at a century of ups and downs..
Our family-owned orchards are located in the northwest corner of Montana, in the beautiful Flathead Valley. We specialize in fresh sweet cherries, selling wholesale and retail through our warehouse located 10 miles south of Bigfork. Other products that we sell are canned cherries, jams, gifts and a variety of fruit wine.
Fresh cherries are available late June to early September from our orchards in Montana and Washington.
OUR CHERRIES
We grow several different varieties of sweet cherries including Bing, Tieton, Lambert (similar to Bing), Lapin (a later cherry), and Rainier (light yellow with red blush). We also grow a limited amount of pie cherries (sour). Our sweet cherries are sold by the pound or twenty pound box.
As a complement to our fresh cherries we offer a selection of delicious products made with cherries grown from our orchards as well as locally hand-crafted gifts

The History
The Bowman family has been growing famous Flathead sweet cherries since the 1920’s when two brothers, Adam and Eby Bowman, planted the original family orchards on the East Shore of Flathead Lake. They cleared the timbered land with the teams of horses, dynamited large rocks and cultivated the ground (with horses) in preparation for growing fruit trees.
